PDO/PCL/PLLA Thread Lift
PDO (Polydioxanone) Thread Lift is an FDA-approved treatment to lift and tighten skin. PDO Threads are made from suture material very similar to those used in cardiac surgeries. The PDO Threads (smooth, spiraled or barbed) are inserted under the skin in the treatment area in a mesh or lattice pattern which helps hold the skin against the effects of gravity. Once the threads are inserted the body responds by sending nutrients to the threads, which aid in producing collagen and elastin. PDO Threads tend to dissolve after 6 months.
PCL (Polycaprolactone) threads are very potent at stimulating collagen production as compared to PDO or PLLA. PCL Threads tend to dissolve after 24 months. PCL are off label for the face. PCL has been approved by the FDA in specific applications used in the human body.
PLLA (Poly-L-Lactic Acid) Threads are sometimes used as an alternative to fillers and botulinum toxins. PLLA threads can function as a volumizer and collagen stimulator. PLLA threads cause very small amounts of inflammatory reactions to the surrounding tissues. PLLA threads tend to dissolve after 12-24 months.
PDO, PCL. PLLA Threads are suitable to patients with mild to mild-moderate saggy skin with reasonable expectations. They all offer support with an immediate lift through repositioning and anchoring soft tissue. Biostimulation; regenerative action with collagen stimulation for progressive volumizing and natural firming and tightening.
The areas that are generally affected are the eyebrows, areas around the eyes, the cheeks, the jowls and the neck.
Traditionally, most people would look into plastic surgery to get a facelift as there weren’t very effective noninvasive treatments to lift the loose skin. However, now there is an effective nonsurgical option that can lift and contour and suspend the sagging tissues on the face, neck and the body, especially for those that need only minimal to moderate rejuvenation or for those that do not wish to undergo surgical intervention.

Frequently Asked Questions
The PDO Thread Lift works by redefining the facial contours and inducing collagen production creating a lifting effect which lasts for up to 1-2 years.
Thread lifts are quick, with little or no downtime. Most people return to work the day after their procedure. It’s a more affordable and less invasive alternative to a surgical facelift, according to RealSelf members who said it was Worth It.
PDO sutures would have dissolved to a good extent, while for PLLA sutures, there is a core of collagen around the suture, making it extremely traumatic to remove. In general, it is best to not remove absorbable threads unless there is a strong medical reason, for example infection.
You should refrain from washing, wetting and touching your face or the treated area for at least 12 hours after your procedure. Once you do start showering and cleansing the area, be careful not to massage or scrub with a washcloth for 3 weeks after your thread lift.
You cannot see the threads after receiving them, although the thickness of your skin will determine a lot. After receiving the PDO Thread treatment you may be able to slightly feel the threads due to the tightening that is increased in loose areas.
Facial thread lifts average cost is 3500.00. It is as high as 10,000.00 in places like California. Our competitors in Utah charge around 3200.00 for a facelift and use about 6-10 threads. We use around 12-16 threads for our face lifts. Our lifts also last an average of 2 years with 3 years of collagen.
PDO, or polydioxanone threads, dissolve after only six to nine months. Contrastingly, PLLA, or Poly L. Lactic Acid threads, dissolve after 12 to 18 months.
PDO (Polydioxanone) threads are absorbable sutures that were initially developed for use in cardiac surgery procedures. PDO threads have received FDA clearance and are now recognized as a safe, minimally-invasive alternative to traditional aesthetic procedures such as full face, jaw, brow, and neck lifts.
